Dennis Voelkel
Summary
Dennis Voelkel focuses his practice on two general areas. He represents small and medium-sized businesses, investors, business executives, and professionals in a wide variety of transactional and corporate matters, from consulting with clients about the business structure that best meets their needs to sell the business. Dennis offers practical legal advice aimed at maximizing profits and minimizing risk. Common issues include sales and acquisitions, real estate sales and leases, business formations, financing, risk assessment and minimization, employment agreements, buy-sell agreements, business succession plans, dispute resolution, product sales, and distribution arrangements, and agreements for the protection of intellectual property rights and confidential information.

Dennis’s practice philosophy involves more than merely applying seasoned technical legal skills to solve his clients’ problems. In his business practice, Dennis applies his real-world business and investing experience to the opportunities and problems faced by his clients. He often assists clients in evaluating the economics and risks of business opportunities.

Dennis advises clients on estate planning matters. He consults with clients to assist them in identifying their estate planning objectives and then designing an estate plan that fulfills those objectives. Dennis emphasizes that every client is unique and requires an estate plan uniquely designed for their particular circumstances and goals. Dennis works with clients to pass their assets on to their loved ones in a manner that enhances the lives of the beneficiaries by protecting those assets from creditors, from former spouses in divorce, and the beneficiary’s own poor judgment, by delaying distributions until such time that the beneficiary is prepared to use the assets wisely. For clients with estates that may be subject to federal estate tax, Dennis designs estate plans to minimize or eliminate federal estate taxes using various basic and advanced estate tax planning techniques. Dennis designs charitable gifting strategies and structures for clients with charitable objectives that both benefit the charity and provide tax benefits to the client.

Dennis and his staff also assist clients in administering the trusts and estates of their loved ones, recognizing the client’s goals efficiently and promptly.
