Mark W. Rutherford
Summary
Mark W. Rutherford focuses his practice on four different areas. He represents many businesses in their day-to-day legal needs, advising on all matters of law regarding contracts, employment issues, corporate compliance, and business transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, asset purchase and sales, as well as business entity formation. His second practice area is general business litigation, representing owners and businesses in the prosecution and defense of lawsuits. His third practice area is representing businesses and their owners in defense of criminal and administrative proceedings. This is commonly known as the White Collar defense if the owner or business is accused of an alleged criminal violation. It also involves assisting the business when it receives notices of governmental administrative violations or to assist businesses when they become indirectly involved in criminal and administrative investigations and receive subpoenas for documents or requests for interviews from law enforcement officials.
Mark’s fourth area of practice is working with tax-exempt and charitable organizations and political and campaign organizations.
Mark is active in the community. He presently serves as Chairman of the Indiana Public Defender Commission and President of the Indianapolis Junior Tennis Development Fund, Inc.; He has previously served as President of the Woodstock Club, Indianapolis Police Athletic League, Inc., Central Indiana Tennis Association, Inc., National Junior Tennis League of Indianapolis, Inc. and the Lambda Chi Alpha Home Association of Wabash College, Inc.
